Michigan Governor Rick Snyder holds a news conference to talk about why he signed into law right-to-work laws in Lansing, Michigan December

LANSING (WKZO) --  Governor Snyder is calling on Congress to end the gridlock and reopen the federal government.  He said the government shutdown is a reminder that there is "something wrong with our national political culture today."

Snyder added Michigan lawmakers have found ways to get the state's fiscal house in order with three straight years of balanced budgets.  He called the work done in Lansing proof that politicians can solve problems before them instead of blaming each other when things go wrong.
