DETROIT (WKZO) -- The federal government shutdown is into its second day with thousands of employees off the job. A small group of Equal Opportunity Employment Commission staffers held an impromptu protest outside the McNamara Federal Building after being told to go home early Tuesday. More than 600 civilians and military technicians are off the job at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, but air traffic control, border protection and courts are still operating.
