JENISON, MI (WHTC) - The morning commute between Hudsonville and Jenison was snarled today by a pre-dawn crash.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant John Wolffis, a Buick was heading westbound on Chicago Drive, driven by 23-year-old Derrick Carson-Brown of Wyoming, while a Toyota was heading northbound on Port Sheldon Street, driven by 42-year-old Alejandro Ramos-Perez of Jenison. The two vehicles collided, and the Toyota careened into a nearby power pole, knocking down lines and traffic signals into the intersection.
Carson-Brown was taken to Metro Health for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, while Ramos-Perez wanted to handle his ailments privately. The intersection was closed for a couple of hours while crews repaired the signal and the pole, and an investigation into the incident continues.
