HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- A local non-profit leader has announced her retirement. Most recently, Deanna DePree has been the Executive Director of Life Services System. DePree began her career at a time when advocacy for intentional creative development for infants and children was just beginning, in 1983. In 2003, she helped create and launch the Michigan Parent and Information Resource Center. Deanna’s Playhouse is one of the few facilities of its kind in the country and serves as a model program.
Her late husband, Thomas, was a one-time Ottawa County Commissioner, and her son Hopwood is a noted independent film maker and founder of the Waterfront Film Festival that is held annually in South Haven.
Deanna DePree will continue on the speaking circuit but said she’s looking forward to retirement, spending more time with her family, traveling, working about a book on parenting and also on a new children’s series.
