GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) -- The christening of the U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford is set for next week in Newport News, Virginia. Three close friends of former President Ford, former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, will be on hand for the November 9th event.
The vessel is touted as a new class of aircraft carrier. It will save the Navy roughly four-billion dollars in operating costs and has a projected life span of 50 years.
