HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A request by a West 13th Street homeowner to set up a private beekeeping operation was considered by the Holland Planning Commission on Tuesday afternoon. Current ordinances prohibit such residential activities, but city staffers have put forward a proposed amendment that would regulate this practice. Several objections were voiced by commissioners and others during the meeting, so City Planner Mark Vanderploeg will tweak the proposed amendment and bring it back before the board on June 11; a public hearing and a vote to forward the matter to City Council could come on June 25th if the amendment language is OK’d at that time.
