HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - While most road construction zones will be cleared out for motorists along the Lakeshore and across the state for this Memorial Day holiday weekend, some roads will need to maintain restricted travel because of major renovations.
In Holland, the biggest road project is along the major artery coming into heart of the Tulip City from the south. According to Mayor Kurt Dykstra, Washington Avenue, along with Michigan Avenue that connects at 32nd Street, is getting a complete makeover between Matt Urban Drive and 27th Street, and the headaches that this will create isn't as bad as what would happen if such work isn't done.
Not only are drivers inconvenienced, but those who ride the MAX Transit buses along that stretch will need to call 353-1010 or go online to www.catchamax.org for information on alternate routes.
This renovation is slated to run through October.
