UNDATED (WHTC) - New numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show that while a majority of Michigan counties are losing residents, Ottawa County is among the top in the state in population growth. In a report released earlier this week from the Upjohn Institute, employment in Ottawa County is expected to increase by 2.3 percent in 2013 and another 2 percent in 2014. Ottawa County Communications Manager Shannon Felgner says the numbers aren’t surprising. She went on to say that diversity is important to the growth of the county and that many industries in Ottawa County are poised for growth. Felgner also says that projected population for 2030 is 370-thousand people, an increase of more than 100-thousand.
