HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The groundbreaking ceremony for the Kruizenga Art Museum takes place Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Those who will be attending include Hope College president Dr. James Bultman, Holland mayor Kurt Dykstra and the building’s architect, Matthew VanderBorgh, a 1984 Hope graduate. The Kruizenga Art Museum will provide exhibition space and house the college’s permanent art collection. Charles Mason, who has more than 17 years in the museum field, has been hired as the director. He says he is very excited to start with the museum at the very beginning. His career experience includes work at independent art museums as well as art museums with academic affiliations. Mason assumes his new role July 1st and the building is scheduled to open in 2015.
