Cabrera's Heroics Not Enough for Tigers: Cubs & Sox Also Fall on Sunday

UNDATED (WHTC) - Despite three homers and five RBI from Miguel Cabrera, the Tigers lost at Texas last night, 11-8. Detroit opens a two-game series in Cleveland tomorrow evening, with coverage on 1450 WHTC at 6:40 PM.

Daniel Murphy’s homer in the eighth inning snapped a 3-3 tie, giving the visiting New York Mets a 4-3 victory over the Cubs yesterday. Chicago opens a series in Pittsburgh tomorrow evening.

Jason Vargas scattered four hits and struck out six in seven shutout innings, pitching the LA Angels past the visiting White Sox yesterday, 6-2. Chicago hosts Boston to begin a series at US Cellular Field tonight.


The Whitecaps split a pair of games with visiting Bowling Green yesterday. Jared Reaves drove in two runs as West Michigan took the opener, 5-1. Taylor Guerrieri allowed only one hit with three strikeouts in six shutout innings as the Hot Rods won the nightcap, 8-0. The series at Fifth Third Ballpark concludes today.


Game three of the NHL Stanley Cup Western Conference Semifinals is at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit this evening, with the Red Wings and visiting Chicago Blackhawks tied at one game apiece in the best-of-seven series.
