GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - Sentencing is on May 28th for Davanh Phouangphet, a 32-year-old Holland man convicted yesterday of first-degree murder. An Ottawa County Circuit Court Jury needed less than three hours to return the verdict that ended the four-day proceedings; the defense called no witnesses. Phouangphet faces life in prison without parole after dousing his 53-year-old landlady with lantern fuel and lighting a match at her West Pine Lane home on Holland’s North Side. Thanh Le died from her injuries less than a week after the January 23, 2012 attack. Prosecutors say that Phouangphet and Le had been quarreling at length before the incident.
