HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - While the 84th Tulip Time Festival took center stage with the finale of its eight-day run, there were some other notable non-related festival activities along the Lakeshore today. Civic officials were on hand at the Padnos Transportation Center to welcome the Pere Marquette Amtrak passenger train daily morning arrival on this National Train Day. There was the dedication of a children’s playground on Windmill Island this morning, built through the foundation of television home renovator Carter Oosterhouse. Residents outside of Holland were asked to leave non-perishable food items at their mailboxes today for letter carriers to collect on national Stamp Out Hunger Day; this collection will be in the city of Holland next Saturday due to Tulip Time logistics.
