HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - After five straight days of near-perfect weather during the Tulip Time Festival, forecasters are predicting showers to arrive for this afternoon’s Kinderparade. A group of Community Foundation scholarship winners will be the ceremonial Grand Marshals. The evening activities are highlighted by a performance from the touring Second City comedy troupe at the Knickerbocker Theatre.
Governor Snyder delivered a positive-toned speech before 900 diners during yesterday’s Tulip Time Luncheon, asking that attendees talk up the state more and touting the Pure Michigan Business Connect program to stimulate ingrown industries. He then joined Holland Mayor Kurt Dykstra and other dignitaries in traditional Dutch costume for the Volksparade. It was Mr. Snyder’s third straight Tulip Time visit as Governor.
Political pundits are wondering if Kurt Dykstra was really serious about his ambitions during yesterday’s Tulip Time Festival Luncheon. The Holland Mayor conducted a slideshow presentation about a “Kurt Dykstra 4 US Senate” message in a humorous manner before a crowd of around 900 at DeVos Fieldhouse, but was coy when asked afterwards if he was considering seeking the Republican nomination next year.
The 84th Tulip Time Festival runs through Saturday.
