UNDATED (WHTC) - With one exception, voters along the Lakeshore were in a favorable mood when they came to the polls yesterday in a limited millage-related election. The annual 18-mill non-homestead tax was renewed in the West Ottawa, Zeeland, Saugatuck and Fennville school districts. Additional levy requests in Saugatuck for community recreation, technology and equipment upgrades, and the building and site sinking fund were approved, as well as Fennville’s building and site sinking fund and Zeeland’s public recreation fund. However, millage requests in the townships of Holland and Zeeland to allow them to join the West Michigan Airport Authority were rejected by margins of seven and 14 votes, respectively. Less than 10 percent of the registered voters in the districts holding elections casted ballots yesterday.
