HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The 84th Tulip Time Festival reaches the halfway mark of its eight-day run following the conclusion of this evening’s activities. Special attractions on tap today include a variety of arts and crafts classes at the Civic Center Marketplaats, FiddleFire performing at the Knickerbocker Theatre, a Tulip Time Salute by local high school students at Central Wesleyan Chuch, and the musical “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” at the Civic Theatre.
Meanwhile, State Senator Arlan Meekhof has formally invited Michigan rock music legend Ted Nugent to the 2014 Tulip Time Festival. The West Olive Republican said that he had talked with Nugent after he had trashed the event in a radio interview last week while criticizing the Pure Michigan travel ad campaign for not promoting hunting and fishing. Nugent’s tour stops in South Bend on Sunday and at Van Andel Arena next Tuesday.
