Tigers Clobber Houston, Cubs and White Sox Lose, Whitecaps Get a Win, Red Wings Lose

            Miguel Cabrera crushed two home runs and reached base every time he stepped in the batter’s box.  The Tigers got 21 hits on their way to clobbering Houston by a score of 17-2.  The series at Minute Maid Park continues this afternoon. Coverage on 1450 WHTC begins at 3:45 PM.

            Alfonso Soriano hit a pair of two-run homers in the Cubs losing effort to the Cincinatti Reds yesterday.  The Cubs have lost three straight.. The series at Wrigley Field in Chicago continues this afternoon.

            In yesterday’s White Sox game at Kansas City , the Royals defeated the Sox 2-0, with K.C.’s pitcher Jeremy Guthrie getting his first career complete-game shutout.  The series at Kauffman Stadium continues today..


            The Whitecaps put one in the win column Saturday night, beating Quad Cities River Bandits by a score of 7-4.  Almost seven thousand fans saw the bullpen shut down the Quad Cities lineup.  The Whitecaps continue a six game home stand facing Quad Cities at 1 p.m.


            Game four of the NHL Stanley Cup playoff last night between the Detroit Red Wings and the visiting Anaheim Ducks evening at Joe Louis Arena ended in a loss for the Red Wings by a score of 4-0.. The Ducks take a two-one lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinal series.


            The Blackhawks have a 2-0 lead in their series against Minnesota.  The best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinal series goes into with game three at the Xcel Center in St. Paul this afternoon.


            The Chicago Bulls adavance to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a win against Brooklyn last night.  Joakim Noah posted 24 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks to put the Bulls over the top by a score of 99-93.  Next up for the Bulls, LeBron James and the Miami Heat.


            The Griffins, after outshooting Houston each of the first four playoff games, had something to show for it Saturday, scoring four times in the second period en route to a 7-0 rout against the Aeros in game five to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.
