DEARBORN (WKZO) -- Ford is in the crosshairs of a class action lawsuit alleging defects are causing unintended acceleration in its vehicles. The suit was filed by consumers in 14 states.
One of the attorneys pursuing the lawsuit says the legal action is about saving lives, compensating consumers and helping Ford fix its cars. The suit claims the electronic throttle control system in Ford vehicles is prone to what it calls "sudden unintended acceleration events."
Multiple yearly models of more than a dozen Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles are named in the complaint. They include the Crown Victoria, the Escape, the Expedition and the Mustang.
