HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) - A lawman and a Holland Township woman met by accident at an intersection on Holland’s North Side last night and ended up being hospitalized. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, Deputy Steve Burgess was responding to a felony call, had his flashers and siren on, and was driving westbound on James Street when he came upon a traffic signal on 120th Avenue as Ai Qun Zang was driving northbound on a green light. Burgess had stopped and waited for traffic to clear before moving forward, where his cruiser was smashed into by Zang's vehicle. Both drivers were taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Sergeant Wildfong didn’t relate the nature of the felony call that the deputy was responding to as the crash remains under investigation.
