HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The issuing of revenue bonds totaling no more than 195 million dollars was approved last night by the Holland City Council for the construction of a new BPW power plant. The natural gas-fueled facility is to be built separately from the current coal-fired DeYoung complex on River Avenue, although the exact location is still to be publicly disclosed.
Meanwhile, Lakeshore communities are tackling the fireworks issue for this upcoming season, the first full one since state laws restricting minor explosives were relaxed. The Holland City Council last night set a April 17th public hearing and final vote on updating its fireworks and noise ordinances, while the Holland Township Board has that matter on its agenda for tonight.
