HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The process of dealing with a rare piece of undeveloped public land on Lake Macatawa continues tonight, as Holland’s Design Review Board goes over suggestions for the former Western Machine Tool Works property. The city has spent more than 600 thousand dollars in purchasing the site 18 years ago and tearing down the factory, with another 200 grand coming from Lansing to help pay for an environmental cleanup. There have been several failed efforts to build up the land off of Kollen Park Drive since 1995. Earlier this month, Council approved seeking new requests from firms that would lease the property and develop it while maintaining public access, and the panel wants to make a decision on which direction to go there at its April 17th meeting.
