UNDATED (WHTC) - Off-the-field incidents involving buses affected two Grand Valley State teams over the weekend. The bus carrying the club hockey Lakers to a national tournament in St. Louis caught fire on Friday. It didn’t take long to bring the flames under control, and the vehicle was vacant at the time, but it will necessitate a second bus to bring the team back to Allendale when the tournament is over, as GVSU plays in a semifinal today. Meanwhile, the Grand Valley State women’s lacrosse team had its scheduled game in Pennsylvania against Seton Hill yesterday cancelled after the host Griffins’ bus crashed on Saturday, killing the driver, the pregnant coach, and the unborn child that she had been carrying for six months.
