Governor Snyder hosts business summit at Cobo Hall

DETROIT (WKZO) --   Governor Rick Snyder will be hosting an economic summit at Cobo Hall on Monday and Tuesday.

Business, education and local governmental leaders from all over the state have been invited to particispate.

Snyder says "This is a hands-on, working summit that will prepare Michigan for the opportunities that await in our global economy. It will challenge our business, education and economic development leaders to focus on new ways of providing meaningful job opportunities as we help meet the pressing talent needs of our employers. This is an exciting chance to lay a foundation for greater cooperation in education and economic development across the regions of our state."

Snyder may hear what we have been hearing from local school and governmental leaders. They feel they have already contributed quite a bit involuntarily by taking reductions in revenue sharing and state school aid, money that has been shifted by the legislature and the Snyder administration to pay for new business tax cuts.

They may argue that without good schools, secure cities and paved roads, it’s going to be that much tougher for Michigan to attract new job providers and retain the ones they have.
