DETROIT (WKZO) -- It was a strange request, considering everything that is going on in Detroit but you can be sure the Summer Olympics won't be coming to the Motor City anytime soon.
Detroit Mayor Dave Bing officially turned down an invitation to bid on hosting the 2024 Summer Games, citing the cities uncertain financial future and long-term stability when it comes to money.
Bidders are required to make a ten-million-dollar upfront payment and commit to a three-billion dollar operating budget should their bid be successful.
The U.S. Olympic Committee sent out the invitations to 35-cities to bid.
