HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - It was a little rougher on the streets of Holland last year than in 2011. The Department of Public Safety’s annual report was issued this morning, and a three-year decline in overall police activity ended. Major crimes were up nine percent to over 31 hundred; minor offenses fell by five percent to 28-hundred-46; crashes rose three percent to 14-hundred-35; and overall calls for police service increased eight percent to nearly 15 thousand. Detective cases and juvenile cases were also higher. As for traffic, the top crash site was the intersection of 16th Street and Waverly Road with 35 mishaps, followed by the junction of 32nd Street and US-31 with 29.
