HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The search continues for a 36-year-old Holland woman not seen since Valentine’s Day.
Public Safety officials say that further investigation into the disappearance of Emelene VanDyke has uncovered the absence of her camping gear from her College Avenue home, which may be consistent with her stated intention of attending a retreat in the Traverse City area in her new car that she had purchased earlier in the week.
The 5-7, 200-pound, sandy blonde-haired woman was last spotted by a neighbor as she left her home on the 14th, and there has been no sign of VanDyke or her vehicle since. Surveillance video taken at her bank showed her under no duress as she withdrew money from an ATM that day, and there has been no activity with her cell phone or her debit card since.
Investigators don’t believe of any known connection between VanDyke’s disappearance and the disappearance of Big Rapids attorney Fred Byrne, who went missing two days earlier after dropping off his son at Hope College; Byrne’s vehicle, keys and wallet were recovered in a national forest south of St. Louis, Missouri. Anyone with any information as to their whereabouts is asked to contact the Holland Department of Public Safety or Silent Observer (877-88-SILENT, http://mosotips.com).
