HOLLAND (WHTC) - Brittany Berry hit six 3-pointers, all of them in the first half, as Hope College defeated Wheaton 64-37 in a first-round NCAA Division III women’s basketball tournament game Friday at DeVos Fieldhouse. The Flying Dutch (27-1) face Ohio Northern (27-1) Saturday night in a second-round matchup. Broadcast time on 92-7 the Van and 927thevan.com is 6:10 p.m.

The news wasn’t as good for Calvin. The Knights let a seven-point lead slip away in the final two minutes and lost to St. Thomas of Minnesota, 64-62. Holland Christian graduate Carissa Verkaik ended her outstanding career for the Knights with 24 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots. It's the second year in a row that St. Thomas has knocked Calvin out of the NCAA tournament.
