HOLLAND, MI -- The Holland Area PRIDE Festival took place Saturday. This was the first year that the event was held outdoors and hundreds of people showed up at Centennial Park to show their support. There was a celebratory feeling in the air after Wednesday’s Supreme Court rulings on DOMA and Proposition 8. The PRIDE festival in Holland got its start after the Holland City Council voted against including the terms “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the city’s human relations and fair housing ordinances and the equal employment opportunity policy.
