HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- The 4th of July is right around the corner and with the recent amendment concerning fireworks by the state of Michigan, the Holland City Council wanted to act on that before the holiday. The state amendment says that cities can place their own ban on fireworks between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Public Safety Chief Matt Messer says the amendment makes things more clear for law enforcement. In the past, fireworks were considered part of the noise ordiance. Public Safety Chief Matt Messer says the amendment, which bans fireworks between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. will make things much easier for his officers enforcing the law.
