FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC) - Allegan County’s Clyde Township, which surrounds Fennville’s south side, is involved in yesterday’s US Supreme Court ruling that strikes down an important part of the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act. The court ruled that a formula for determining which states need federal approval before changing voting laws is outdated and is therefore unconstitutional. Clyde Township was put under the VRA four decades ago due to a high concentration of Hispanic residents despite having no history of racial discrimination at the polls.
