There were no changes in the latest All-Star balloting update for the American League starters, but some of the races are starting to heat up.
Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera still leads all vote getters with just over 4.3-million tallies.
Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis holds a slim lead of about 48-thousand votes over Jose Bautista of the Blue Jays for the third and final starting outfield position. Markakis' teammate Adam Jones leads all outfielders with over 3.5-million votes and is followed by the Angels' Mike Trout.
Twins catcher Joe Mauer maintains a lead of just over 700-thousand votes on Orioles backstop Matt Wieters in another tight race. Baltimore is also in line to have starters at first base in Chris Davis and shortstop with J.J. Hardy.
The Yankees' Robinson Cano leads the way at second base while David Ortiz of the Red Sox is in line to start for the junior circuit as the designated hitter.
