BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC) - A 21-year-old Grand Rapids man is recovering from a single-vehicle crash south of Grand Valley State's Allendale campus on Sunday morning. According to authorities, Zachariah Koop was driving his car northbound on 48th Avenue, approaching Stanton Street, when he apparently fell asleep behind the wheel. His vehicle drifted left off of the roadway and struck a tree. Rescuers extricated the buckled up driver and took him to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in stable condition. Investigators don't believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
