GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) - A new leader has been installed for the Lakeshore’s Catholics. David J. Walkowiak is now the 12th ever Bishop for the Diocese of Grand Rapids, encompassing 11 counties and 182 thousand parishioners. He replaces Walter Hurley, who was forced into retirement after reaching age 75, but the appointment by the Vatican was delayed by the change in Pontiffs from Benedict the 16th to Francis.
