UNDATED (WHTC) - The inability of utility crews to drive trucks into parts of the Lakeshore near the Covert area due to governmental restrictions because of sensitive dune lands means that customers living there won’t have power restored until later this week. They’ve been without electricity since Wednesday night, when strong storms blew through much of Southern Michigan, although its effects in the Holland area were minimal. Consumers Energy workers had another problem to contend with around 10:30 yesterday morning, when a squirrel apparently got into a substation in Martin, causing over 900 customers to lose power for about five hours before repairs were made. No major damage was reported in that incident.
