HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) - A fatal accident on Holland’s North Side last evening could lead to charges. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Greg Rotman, 51-year-old Barbara Roels was pedaling her bike southbound on 104th Avenue and was in the crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle of 35-year-old Kelly Briggs of Zeeland Township, who was driving westbound on Riley Street and apparently drove through a stop sign. Roels was eventually taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital, where she died from her injuries; Briggs was not hurt. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, but as is the case in all fatal accidents, the results of the investigation will be forwarded to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of possible charges.
