HASTINGS, MI (WHTC) - Harold Ordway has apparently told investigators that he strangled one roommate, and then shot and killed his other roommate to cover up the crime. He had nearly gotten away with it until now but Ordway has apparently confessed to both crimes, in exchange for having one of the murder charges dropped. The body of Michael Van Buskirk was found in a field near Vicksburg, but so badly decomposed that they could not detect that he had been strangled. Ordway will apparently admit guilt to that crime. The charge that he shot and killed Paul Atchley will be dropped in exchange for help from Ordway to find where his body is buried. Until now, all he had been charged with was being a felon in possession of a gun, the weapon he used on Atchley and resulted in his arrest when police found a bloody mattress in the back of his pickup truck. If not for a fender bender on M-89 east of Plainwell on the day he buried Atchley, he might never have gotten caught. He will probably serve the same time no matter how many murders he is convicted for.
