UNDATED (WHTC) - A little bit of good news for Michigan residents who suffered mortgage servicing abuses from the national foreclosure crisis. Attorney General Bill Schuette says roughly 72-thousand residents will split about 107-million dollars from the National Mortgage Settlement. The total restitution for all states in the country comes to about 1.5 billion dollars. That comes to right around 15-hundred dollars for each valid claim in the country. Homeowners should also be wary of scams. Unscrupulous companies are contacting homeowners with offers of assistance for a fee to receive the settlement payment. You should not pay a fee to receive a payment under the agreement.
