UNDATED (WHTC) - Gas prices are high across the Lakeshore and the rest of Michigan. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is warning retailers against attempts to take advantage of consumers by price gouging or price fixing. The gas price average in Michigan is third highest in the country at $4.17, topped only by Illinois and Hawaii. Along the Lakeshore, gas prices range from $4.12 to $4.26 per gallon. Under the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, retailer can’t charge a price that is “grossly in excess of the price at which similar property or services are sold.” If you think someone is price gouging gas or price fixing, contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division at 877-765-8388.
