DETROIT (WHTC) - The West Michigan Whitecaps return home to entertain Great Lakes tomorrow evening. Before today's game in South Bend, the Whitecaps lost outfielder Danry Vasquez, as he was dealt by the parent Detroit Tigers to Houston, along with a player to be named later, in exchange for veteran reliever Jose Veras, who is expected to be Detroit’s setup man in front of closer Joaquin Benoit. Vasquez hit .281 with five home runs and 39 RBI in 96 games for West Michigan this season. Veras recorded 19 saves in 22 opportunities with the Astros, going 0-4 with a 2.93 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 43 innings, and joins his seventh big league organization. He should be in uniform for tomorrow night's Tigers' game versus Washington at Comerica Park, a game that will be on 1450 WHTC, beginning at 6:40 PM.
