HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- Holland residents who want to keep bees may still get the chance. Members of the Holland Area Beekeepers Association made their presence known at a Holland City Council Study Session last Wednesday. There is currently an ordinance in place that makes beekeeping illegal inside the city limits. The Planning Commission conducted a study and had recommended to City Council that there should not be a change in the ordinance. The proposal allows for two hives for properties of 8000 to 11000 square feet, with more hives allowed for larger properties. Council has put the issue on the next regular city council meeting agenda, which is scheduled for August 7th.
