HOLLAND TOWNSHIP (WHTC) - The Macatawa Area Coordinating Council is throwing its support behind a five-year, 12-million campaign to clean up Lake Macatawa. The MACC Policy Board Monday voted to endorse Project Clarity, an effort to try to reduce sediment, phosphourus and other materials that wash into the lake from its creeks and streams throughout its 175-square-mile watershed area. The MACC Executive Committee is soon expected to discuss ideas for funding support for the project. The campaign already has significant private sector support, with backers including the DeVos and Brooks families.
