HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Relief from the heat is on its way for those from the Lakeshore to the East Coast. One more day of heat and humidity will give way to a cold front moving into the region, beginning this afternoon in the Holland area, and extending into tomorrow further east. The cold front could also bring some severe thunderstorms. A Heat Advisory begun at 12 Noon on Tuesday remains in effect for Allegan and Ottawa counties through 8 PM tonight. The National Weather Service has also issued a beach hazard precaution for the waters off of Lake Michigan all along the Lakeshore through this evening. Strong winds in advance of predicted thunderstorms will make waves choppy and could create rip current conditions. No reports thus far of any deaths or serious illnesses as a result of the heat along the Lakeshore.
