OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WHTC) -- In response to numerous inquiries, the Ottawa County Planning Commission will hold a seminar this coming Wednesday on the practice of fracking.  Fracking or hydraulic fracturing uses a mixture of chemicals, sand and water to break up bedrock to get to oil and natural gas below the surface of the earth.  The seminar will include presentations from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the Michigan oil and Gas Association, the Committee to Ban Fracking in Michigan and the Michigan State University Extension.  A question and answer session will take place after the presentations.  The seminar takes place at the Ottawa County Fillmore St. Complex at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.  People are encouraged to RSVP by phone at 738-4852 or email at plan@miottawa.org
