Adopt-A-Highway Volunteers Begin Litter Pickup on Saturday

Michigan Adopt A Highway Volunteers
Michigan Adopt A Highway Volunteers

UNDATED (WHTC) -- If you’re thinking of heading out of town this weekend be on the lookout for Adopt-A-Highway volunteers.  They’ll be picking up litter along state highways starting this Saturday  and working through July 21st.  This is the second of three scheduled pickups this year.  State Transportation Director Kirk T Steudle says that “Adopt-A-Highway volunteers provide a financial lift for M-DOT and our state by performing needed work that we otherwise couldn’t fund.”  Volunteers should be easy to see as they are provided with high-visibility, yellow-green safety vests, which are required by federal regulations.  M-DOT provides the vests and the trash bags.  Crew members have to be at least 12-years-old and each group must number at least three people.  Sections of highway are still available.  For more information, go to the mighigan.gov/adoptahighway
