HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Old Man Winter is back along the Lakeshore with a vengeance. An Alberta Clipper has plummeted temperatures from around 60 earlier this week to well below freezing, coupled with West to Northwest winds of up to 30 miles an hour coming off of Lake Michigan, have precipitated a Lake Effect Snow Warning through 1 PM on Saturday. Forecasters say that more than 12 inches of snow could fall in some areas, depending on the direction and severity of those winds, and wind chills could be below zero at times. In addition, fears of ice jams and ice floes upstream, along with heavy rains earlier this week, has led to a Flood Watch for those living along or near the Grand River in Ottawa County until Sunday afternoon. Road crews may have difficulty keeping main arteries free of snow and ice due to the winds and cold temperatures.
