HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The retired Lakeshore doctor who received national attention three years ago when he took furniture and artwork from a Florida hotel, in apparent disregard of video cameras that captured these acts, has run afoul of the law again. Roger Gemmen was convicted yesterday of second-degree retail fraud after prosecutors convinced a Holland District Court jury that he took a 25-dollar suppository from the D&W Fresh Market on Holland’s North Side last October. The 78-year-old Park Township man was sentenced to pay a 400-dollar fine, on top of a 200-dollar civil penalty to the store. As a result of this incident, Gemmen is also expected to be before a judge in Naples, Florida, for a possible probation violation.
