Doubleheader Action in High School Basketball Across Lakeshore Tonight


UNDATED (WHTC) - It’s high school basketball doubleheader action across the Lakeshore this evening, as all match ups are boys/girls twin bills. We’ll carry both games between Hamilton and Holland Christian from the Holland Civic Center, beginning at 5:40 PM, on 1450 WHTC and http://whtc.com/listen-live. In addition, the contests from Zeeland West, as the Dux host Unity Christian, will air on 92.7 The Van and http://927thevan.com/listen-live, also at 5:40 PM. Other encounters include Holland at Byron Center, West Ottawa at Hudsonville, Zeeland East at Muskegon, Saugatuck at Bloomingdale, Gobles at Fennville, Black River at Zion Christian, and Calvary at Algoma Christian.


Grand Valley State swept a pair of games from visiting Saginaw Valley State last night. In the opener, Ricardo Carbajal scored 20 points as Ric Wesley won for the 200th time in coaching the Lakers with a 78-62 decision. The nightcap saw the GVSU women prevail, 74-48, behind 14 points from Kat LaPrairie. Both of Grand Valley’s teams head to Detroit for a twin-bill against the Wayne State Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

In state major college basketball last evening, Michigan won over visiting Purdue, 68-53, and Oakland downed visiting Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis, 89-71.


Marian Hossa tallied his league-leading fifth goal of the season, 1:41 into overtime, in lifting the Blackhawks to victory at Dallas last night, 3-2. Perfect in four games thus far, Chicago visits Columbus tomorrow evening.

The Detroit Red Wings welcome Minnesota to Joe Louis Arena tonight.


NBA action this evening finds the Detroit Pistons at Miami and the Chicago Bulls entertaining Golden State at the United Center.
