PLAINWELL, MI (WHTC) - For the second time in three years, a soldier from Plainwell has died from wounds suffered while on duty in Afghanistan. Sergeant Mark Schoonhoven succumbed from injuries suffered a month ago when a roadside bomb exploded in Kabul. Funeral arrangements for the 38-year-old man are pending. In May of 2011, Private Thomas Allers, along with three others, suffered a similar fate while on patrol in Kunar Province.
