ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) - A 45-year-old Plainwell man was sentenced yesterday to between 31 and 50 years in prison. Jeffery Witt had pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder and criminal sexual conduct charges in a deal with prosecutors stemming from the death of his live-in girlfriend at their Grant Street home last April. An autopsy revealed that, although Amy Hartman had marks of being beaten, she had died of strangulation.
