PORTAGE, MI (WHTC) - Former West Ottawa Superintendent Patricia Koeze is apparently in the middle of a controversy in a suburban Kalamazoo school district. Koeze, who quit as West Ottawa’s leader 18 months ago, was cited in a four-page document approved by the Portage school board last night as being involved in an extramarital affair with district school chief Ric Perry, which led the board to suspend him on misconduct charges last month. Perry resigned last week and is contesting the disciplinary action. Koeze accepted the superintendent’s post at WayPoint Academy in suburban Muskegon nine days ago before resigning “involuntarily” as Portage’s human resources director; she has refused all public comment since the controversy broke last week.
