HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) - A 23-year-old Holland man who apparently was in a hurry to get somewhere yesterday afternoon ended up going nowhere but to the emergency room at Holland Hospital. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant David VanderPloeg, Anthony Rodriguez was going full throttle behind the wheel of his Grand Am while going westbound on James Street. Witnesses say that he was weaving around traffic by using the left turn lane as a passing lane. Rodriguez initially lost control, hit some mailbox, tried to regain control, but went off the roadway again near Beech Street and overturn his car in the front yard of a James Street residence.
Although buckled up, Rodriguez did sustain some minor injuries that required hospitalization. Sergeant VanderPloeg said that the case remains open, and results will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office for possible legal action.
